Menu Designs

When you go to a restaurant, whether you know it or not, your impression of the place comes from two sources. The food you eat will have a huge impact, but you also get a feel of the place by the exterior and interior design and the menu designs you see. The menu designs can often influence what you order, how much you spend, and will give you a lasting impression of that establishment. If you own a restaurant, or soon will be, you have to make your menu designs reflect the style and type of place you want to present.

There are plenty of places that will print menus for you, but there are fewer places that can do menu designs that are tailored towards your establishment. Though most menus are mostly text, you actually want to have a graphic artist to help you with your layout. These folks are most likely well versed in menu designs and layouts, and will be a valuable asset to your endeavor. Not only can they help you with your initial menu designs, they can help you update your menu as you see fit.

If you want to tackle this on your own, then you need to do some research into menu designs and art. If you aren’t an artist, you might want to skip this, but on the other hand, if you have some talent, you might be able to pull it off. Visit restaurants that reflect what you want to have, and then have a look at their menu designs. This does not mean you should copy what they have, this means you can see the basic menu designs that are out there, and this may help inspire your own creation.

If you simply can’t do it on your own, and you don’t have a lot of money to hire a professional, you should look to your local art school. Students often need such projects to fill out their portfolios, and they may be full of unique and interesting menu designs. You may be able to get your menu designs, as well as other needs filled by a student for a very small price. Sometimes, they will do this for you just to have the privilege of having done the work, and the use of that work to get more work once they finish art school. You may not find anyone you like at an art school, but it never hurts to look.
